A Celebration of Theatre
MAYA KRISHNA RAO
The 14th Mahindra Excellence In Theatre Awards and Festival (META) kickstarted yesterday at Shree Ram Centre, Mandi House, New Delhi. The opening reception began with a panel discussion on the topic "The Black, The White and The Grey : What is the dividing line between inspiration and appropriation in the arts?", panelists included Anmol Vellani, Mukund Padmanabhan, Akash Khurana, Neelam Mansingh, moderated by Sanjoy K Roy.
The interesting session was followed by the opening play "LOOSE WOMEN" directed and enacted by Maya Krishna Rao. A hard hitting insight into how women are expected to walk a straight line all their lives and are pushed back into their designated roles should they try to side step, the play was right in time for Women’s day. Rao delivered a power packed performance.
The festival will go on till 12th March with performances of nominated plays (find below the schedule) and conclude with an award ceremony. Tickets can be booked on bookmyshow.com
