ICE CREAM ROLLS AND MORE 5 PLACES IN DELHI TO LOOK OUT FOR

We check out 4 places to eat Ice creams rolls along with a special surprise

Ice cream rolls, or as its also known Ice-Pan Fried Ice Cream, is made using a unique technique involving an iced grill and pouring fresh (and usually unique!) ingredients. These ingredients can range anywhere from fresh fruits to pan to chocolates and even sorbet mixes.

Although it’s a relatively new concept, its actually been in existence much longer. It dates back to 2009 when it was started in Thailand. It slowly spread to Malaysia and Cambodia around 2012 and worldwide in 2015 thanks to the internet.

But that’s enough boring history, what’s it really? It all starts with a pan below freezing temperature. As the condensed milk and other ingredients are poured, they began crystallizing instantly. So, the chef must be quick in dicing and chopping the ingredients on the pan and also keep stirring. When they’re done, they scrape up what’s left on the pan and serve it to you.

If you live in Delhi or the NCR region, here are 4 places to grab your ice cream rolls:

1. ICE NINJA

Our Rating: 4/5

Locations:

G-68, Baani Square, Sector 50, Gurugram

(Closest Metro Station: Huda City Centre)

39, NWA, Club Road, West Punjabi Bagh, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi

(Closest Metro Station: Madipur)

Kingdom Of Dreams, Sector 29, Gurugram

(Closest Metro Station: Iffco Chowk)

3rd Floor, Ambience Mall, DLF Phase 3, Gurgaon

(Closest Metro Station: Micromax Moulsari Avenue)

Cost: 250-₹300 for two people

Originating in Kolkata, Ice Ninja has developed a kind of finesse in what they do and what they do is make some of the best ice cream rolls in the NCR region. From their exceptional flavors (and even flavor names!) to the ambience they create, Ice Ninja are a class apart.

But perhaps, what makes a major difference is their usage of the iced grill. Its not kept on for long or the ice cream becomes hard but its also not kept off otherwise the ice cream would be a sticky mess! When you eat at Ice Ninja, the rolls melt in your mouth from their usual solid state and you’re stuck wondering whether what you’re eating is what you see.

However, if you’re with more than a couple friends, finding seating can be hard at an Ice Ninja. At the Baani Square and Punjabi Bagh branch, you might even crowd the shop with 4-5 of you. The Kingdom of Dreams branch is linked with the Culture Gully and thus has some seating around. The Ambience outlet is in the Food Court too. Regardless, Ice Ninja is worth it.

2. RAW CREAMS

Our Rating: 4.5/5

Locations:

2509, Ground Floor, Hudson Lane, Delhi University-GTB Nagar, New Delhi

(Closest Metro Station: GTB Nagar)

Cost: 200-₹250 for two people

Hudson Lane delivers again when it comes to value for money. Raw Creams is a safe haven for taste and presentation and boy, do they set a mood! We picked the Kiwi Lemon flavor and right off the bat its unique. For starters, it uses a sorbet base instead of cream or condensed milk. The sweetness of the Kiwi balances the sourness of Lemon.

Raw Creams also offers a fair amount of seating and is far more spacious than any other place we visited. Their playlist is filled with late 2017 hits for you to jam on while you enjoy the extravagant presentation in your bowl.

But if you don’t live in North Delhi or anywhere close, Hudson Lane may seem far away and it’s a shame that they don’t have more branches in Delhi as of now.

3. ROLLING ICE

Our Rating: 3.5/5

Locations:

Opposite Relaxo Showroom, Ramphal Chowk, Sector 7, Dwarka

(Closest Metro Station: Dwarka Sector 9)

PVR Anupam Saket, Community Centre 1, Saket, New Delhi

(Closest Metro Station: Saket)

LG 12, Ajnara Market, Crossing Republik, Ghaziabad

(Closest Metro Station: Vaishali)

First Floor, RDC, Opposite HDFC Bank, Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad

(Closest Metro Station: Vaishali)

Cost: 200-₹250 for two people

Rolling Ice is Dwarka’s Dearest when it comes to Ice Cream Rolls. Since there aren’t many options around West Delhi, Rolling Ice provides great service for West Delhi and even places like Ghaziabad. Rolling Ice also has an outlet in Saket which provides value-for-money ice cream rolls outside PVR Anupam.

One of their major distinctions is their Make Your Own option, where you can pick any three fruits and toppings which you like at just 140.

However, one particular disadvantage is their lack of seating and ambience. The Dwarka outlet does attempt at correcting this, but the seating is too little and the ambience of the place itself is mediocre.

4. FUSION ICE ROLLS

Our Rating: 3/5

Location:

Upper Ground Floor, Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden

(Closest Metro Station: Subhash Nagar)

Cost: 250-₹300 for two people

Fusion Ice Rolls is relatively a new edition in the well-known Pacific Mall of Tagore Garden. They have a branch in Sector 62, Noida which is closed as of now. The Pacific Mall branch, however, enjoys a good variety of options, even though some are of thicker consistency, and also is in close proximity of Subhash Nagar Metro Station.

Since its an open stall, there isn’t much scope for creating a memorable setting and the best option would probably be a half-melted takeaway.

Nitrogen Ice Cream is another unique type of Ice Cream which is slowly but surely growing in India. In this method, Liquid Nitrogen is used for freezing the flavored cream since it is basically Nitrogen at an extremely low temperature. One of the best options for this is,

1. GET DESSERTED

Our Rating: 3.5/5

Location:

M2, Main Road, Greater Kailash 1 (GK1), New Delhi

(Closest Metro Station: Greater Kailash)

Cost: 200-₹250 for two people

With their Liquid Nitrogen technique, Get Desserted instantly set themselves apart from their competition. But its not only the technique that’s different. They have a unique, buttery thick taste to their scoops.

Get Desserted provides both outdoor seating and indoor seating and has a small cupcake shop aesthetic to it. Contrary to the name, Get Desserted is a great location for couples with their affordable options alongside adequate variety. Its definitely a place you want to be.
