The city offers cuisine that intentionally seeks to be more modern, inspired and innovative, inspired by the great Parisan movement ‘le fooding’. Current art de vivre food trends in France’s capital range from a rise in the popularity of street food to a craze of multidisciplinary restaurants. There is always something new, state-of-the-art and inventive on the food scene. You can dine at a tiny restaurant or a grocer’s watch professional chefs, enjoy a special set menu or learn alongside a Michelin starred chef, there are so many ways to experience good food in Paris. I would definitely recommend convivial tea-time in one of the most famous salon de thé, ‘Laduree’ a short stroll from the Arc de Triomphe. This is one fine tea room set in elegant and relaxing surroundings. Must trys include the Macaroons, short-crust pastries and sandwiches. Gourmet walks are an original way to explore Paris. Several companies offer guided gastronomic walking tours as well as chocolate and market tours with Parisians or chefs and visits to master bakers or cake and pastry makers, a great way to make the acquaintance of gourmet Paris. We booked our tours with La Route des Gourmets and would highly recommend the same for any of the tours they offer. We opted for the Rungis Market Tour early in the morning which ended up in the most delicious breakfast and later moved on to the Luxury Gourmet tour with amazing samplings of macaroons, cheese, caviar, truffle to name just a few! Nothing could be more romantic than wanting to discover the secrets of top chefs in a city where cuisine rhymes with inventiveness and tradition. The most prestigious chefs have their own schools (Alain Ducasse, Guy Martin ), ideal to bond over a cooking lesson.
