Stay in a 200 year old courthouse
Ayana Fort Kochi, a 200-year old courthouse that has been restored and renovated to its rightful glory, offering a luxurious stay to travellers
Ayana Hospitality promoted by the ICS Group (India) recently launched its flagship property – 'Ayana Fort Kochi', a luxury boutique hotel in Kochi, Kerala. The 16-room boutique hotel is located in the heart of historic Fort Kochi. Originally a courthouse, this heritage structure took on a new look as the first banking office of ANZ Grindlays, and then as a warehouse for spice and tea traders. Ayana inherited this structure and restored and renovated it into a modern sanctuary for both domestic as well as international guests.
The interiors of the property were revamped under the direction of Kavita Premnarayen, Design Director of Ayana Hospitality, who envisioned an “Indian- Art Deco” Concept. The entire property exudes a colonial charm with its gorgeous rooms and checkered floors. The rooftop café and pool have been designed in an Art Deco style, the lingering fragrance of the Raat Ki Rani tree adds to the charm. The hotel’s monochromatic black and white palate lends itself to the striking artwork showcased throughout the property. Ayana’s commitment to promoting Indian artists is clearly visible as you walk through the hotel. Currently paintings from established artists such as T. Vaikuntam and Sakti Burman, as well as budding artists like Vaishali Dalvi and Sharanu Alloli are displayed all over the property.
