The Wedding Diaries
An Instagram feed full of colourful pictures of happy people in gorgeous outfits and jewellery can only mean that the Wedding Season has begun. Well, none of my friends are getting married soon and I don't mean to gate crash a stranger's wedding so I was extremely delighted to receive an invitation from Le Meredien Hotel New Delhi and designer Anu PD for a wedding!
A mock wedding for the shoot of Anu PD's wedding calendar 2015 and to showcase the designer's new collection and the hotel's wedding facilities.
THE EXPERIENCE: Super Fun!
The day started with a bang with a super yumm chocolate coffee and welcome garlands, followed by a relaxing treatment at The Three Graces Spa by Amatra- all in a gorgeous white and blue casual dress by Anu PD.
The hair and makeup was done at La Belle, the salon at Le Meredien New Delhi offering talented staff and latest equipment. This was followed by a change of outfit and then the sangeet and Mehndi lunch. Anu PD gave us lovely pastel pieces- some sarees, some salwar kameez sets and a few Indo-western gowns, harem pants. All with beautiful zardosi and gota work and some vibrant prints.
The venue, Allure provides great inside seating + open area for a cute set up and easy and comfortable seating inside. Done up in lovely rose and genda flowers, colourful drapes, a jhoola, a stage for music and a whole section for food - all outside, this made for a fun+ functional venue. The food was delicious- from the Delish prawns at the live counters to the scrumptious Indian curries in the main course and some great desserts and drinks.
In between shots and functions, Le Meredien sent this super tasty, tea flavoured eclair to our room. Le Meredien experiments a lot with flavours of the eclairs, served at their cafe and have a vibrant menu- check here.
The wedding dinner was at another attractive venue, Sovereign. The property offers xx spacious venues, click here for more information. The evening was like an actual wedding, with mock guests from both the groom as well as the bride's side, all dressed up in Anu PD outfits.
The bridal outfit was perfect for a modern day bride who wants to do something new and adventurous, keeping the cultural and traditional aspects intact. Wavering from the red, an Anu PD bride opts for pastels like blue and pink, with hues of yellow and scores with a golden jaali dupatta. Major LOVE for that one piece, which according me can change the look of any traditional outfit (A must possess).
The day ended with cocktails at Nero, a peppy bar and lounge at the property. Anu PD caters to this element of a wedding as well with chic gowns and dresses.
