Take a walk to find some hidden gems

For the most brilliant sunset view head to the Savitri Mata Temple, a hilltop temple offering sweeping lake and valley views. It is advisable to go in the evening when the sun is about to go down, as it is cooler and the sunset is gorgeous. One can go via cablecar or trek all the way up. Tip: Leave well before time as the line for tickets and cable car is generally very long, the trek takes 30-60 mins min, depending on your speed. There are roughly around 300 stairs and the last leg of the climb is very steep.Kharekhari Road

For street side cafes, hippie vibes and thrift shopping head to the Chotti Basti, a vibrant market lined with Israeli food stalls, tiny street side eateries, shops selling everything from silver jewellery to dream catchers, rugs, cushions covers, dresses, tee-shirts and a lot more.

For gorgeous Rajasthani handicrafts, patchwork carpets, wall decorations head to Jatin Handicrafts. They have adopted a village and have given the local women a platform to to earn their livelihood.

For a cup of coffee in a quaint little place head to Honey Dew Cafe. This tiny cafe cannot seat more than 6-7 people and is usually full of foreigners. It looks like a place out of a book, with fascinating characters.

For the most delicious Avocado Salad and Pizza Margherita head to the Funky Monkey Cafe, they also have a wide variety of shakes and if you happen to visit during breakfast time then do order the Nutella-banana toast.

Tip: There are plenty of rooftop cafes in Pushkar, all offer great views but average food, it is better to just have a cup of coffee/ juice there and soak in the views

Early morning musings by the ghats: Visit the Brahma temple and then head to the ghats, a great place to sit and soak in the beautiful vibes.  Temple Timings : 6:30 am and 8:30 pm during winter and 6:00 am to 9:00 pm during summer.TIP: It is best to not take a guide, and to avoid all the people who approach for all kinds of rituals.

Wonder at the Architecture: While taking a walk through the tiny bylanes of badibasti and chotti basti, you will notice some beautiful buildings, havelis and colourful doors.

An evening in the sand dunes: Head to the sand dunes for a camel safari, more than riding the camels, it is nice to spend time with them and marvel at how beautifully they have been decorated.

Enjoy a Kalbelia performance: The Kalbelias are a tribe of nomads that earn their livelihood by dancing and singing.  It is an integral part of their culture. You can ask your hotel to arrange a performance for you.
